Anwar to Umno: I’m ready for battle
NEWS/COMMENTARIES

Sunday, 15 November 2009 Super Admin

(Free Malaysia Today) - In his first public remarks since being appointed as economic adviser to Selangor, Malaysian opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim said he would do battle “to the end” against Umno-Barisan Nasional forces bidding to destabilize and wrest power from the state’s Pakatan Rakyat government.

“I have officially now entered the ring,” Anwar said in reference to his new job. “If you try (to seize power), we will go all out and fight to the end,” Anwar said in Shah Alam when opening the state-level National Justice Party convention.

On Friday, Anwar, a former Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, was appointed Selangor’s economic advisor, a job for which he will be paid a norminal salary of RM1 a month.

The appointment is to help the state government formulate new economic initiatives as well as improve the implementation of existing policies that directly and holistically benefit people.

Anwar used the convention to galvanise party members into ensuring the state remained in opposition control despite simmering diffirences within Pakatan ranks which, according to insiders, the coalition has been able to contain so far. Khalid, When your enemy praises you, beware, not rejoice.

I really worry for this guy. He's complaining about his own party members, the very ones who helped the party to win enough seats for PKR to secure the MB post, which he is currently holding. Talk about Kacang lupakan kulit.

Khalid: Even Umno admits we are doing well in S'gor

Rahmah Ghazali, Nov 15, 09

Selangor Menteri Besar Khalid Ibrahim today revealed that former Umno menteri besar Muhammad Muhammad Taib had paid tribute to him on the many changes seen in the state.

In his 30-minute winding speech during the PKR Selangor convention in Shah Alam today, Khalid claimed that he had met the former menteri besar of 11 years three days ago when the latter made the glowing remarks.

"He (Muhammad Taib) said to me, 'Khalid, if this is how you govern Selangor, we are doomed (then)," said Khalid, suggesting that BN could never achieve what the state has now achieved although it (BN) had administrated for 20 years.

"What Muhammad Taib was meant to say was that the BN had governed for 20 years, and we could achieve what we have now within only 20 months. This is such an honour for us," said Khalid, to the cheers from the delegates. Malaysiakini. Subscription required.. (http://malaysiakini.com/news/117492)

RPK: We want action, not rhetoric

Wednesday, 18 November 2009 Super Admin

Khalid has to be brought into line. And if he can’t be brought into line then he has to be axed. That is the long and short of it. Appoint Azmin if need be. Azmin can’t be worse than Khalid. Khalid is making a mess of things that if they dissolved the Selangor State Assembly and called for fresh elections Pakatan Rakyat will be hard-pressed in retaining the state. That is the reality of the situation.

Unless Anwar corrects the biggest mistake of all, handing Selangor to someone not capable of doing the job, there is no way we are going to forgive him and the voters will demonstrate their displeasure come the next election when they give Selangor back to Barisan Nasional.

Raja Petra Kamarudin

NO HOLDS BARRED

The talk in town is no longer, if Barisan Nasional dissolves the Perak State Assembly, whether Pakatan Rakyat can win enough seats to form the state government. It is, if Pakatan Rakyat dissolves the Selangor State Assembly, whether it can win enough seats to, again, form the state government.

Perak is not really that big an issue because, in the first place, Pakatan Rakyat won a marginal number of seats there. That was why it was easy to topple the state government with a mere three state assemblypersons crossing over. So, if Pakatan Rakyat can’t win Perak that would come as no shock to most people. In Selangor, however, Pakatan Rakyat won a sizeable number of seats. That means if fresh state elections are held in Selangor there is no reason why Pakatan Rakyat can’t come back into power.

Or can Pakatan Rakyat retain Selangor? That is what many are now asking. And this is because they are not so sure any longer. They feel that Selangor is not as sure-win as Pakatan Rakyat may think it is. The natives are restless and they are of the opinion that Selangor is not doing as great as they would like it to be.

Basically, Selangor is not running as well as they had hoped. Corruption is still rampant. There is no change in the state administration compared to the days that Umno or Barisan Nasional ran the state. It is still the same shit, just different days.

Businessmen, in particular the Chinese, still need to seek out the Umno warlords to get things done. Pakatan Rakyat may be officially running Selangor. But Umno decides what happens. And unless you make deals with the Umno warlords then nothing happens. Malaysiatoday.... In Penang, we have people complaining about Lim Guan Eng. Kampong Buah Pala, Hill slope development and the coastal land conversion. They see Khalid as better CM rather than LGE.
So what means 'Enough damage has been done'?

In Selangor, we see LGE as better CM that KI. The grass is always greener on the other side. Personally, I think LGE has done much better despite talk about his arrogance. :)
