Congratulation to Senator Y.B. Dr. Haji Syed Husin Ali who is the new senator representing Selangor Darul Ehsan. A fitting post for a man with such calibre and reputation, one of the few politicians who fought for the rakyat's right instead of power.

The Selangor state assembly today nominated PKR deputy president Syed Husin Ali (left), 73, to the Senate as a representative from the state.

Syed Husin's choice was approved by the elected representatives through block voting, in which 32 agreed, three abstained and 20 absent.

Firstly, congratulations to Dr. Syed Husin Ali! I’ve had the honour of working with him on a number of occassions, and am delighted that a man of such integrity and caliber is being elected to our Senate.
