Factors in success:

No political interference.
Highly-qualified teachers - minimum Masters Degree.
Trust in Teachers who have continuity in educating the children
Ownership by Teachers in their student's success
Relaxed teaching atmosphere
Multi-languages
Focus on Science and Maths
Success is not measured by winners or losers. No failures, only teamwork. Everyone is helped regardless of mental capacity.
Slow students are given extra help.
Parents also take strong interest and help in their children's education.

Contrast that with Malaysia where we have stupid people teaching people to become more stupid so that they are easier to control. After 3 generations, we won't be able to recognize what we get - hence Mat Rempits, Bohsias, drug addicts, criminals, etc. We have University dons who dare not show their faces in International Conferences, who hide behind a facade of bluster of Ketuanan Melayu, who suffer from a strong inferiority complex and low self-esteem. Finally, they hang on to the NEP like a life-raft, fearful that they will drown once they let go. Pitiful. bbc. (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/programmes/world_news_america/8605791.stm)

Sorry... We're not able to compare with this Scandinavian country. We're losers... boo...

Guess why we're losing? Not just the main government governing... It's our society too. They are indirectly chasing out our experts and enthusiasts (e.g. me). We find very little but no opportunity here. So... we've decided to flee but to stay in heaven. Even though the cost of living is high but when we work hard there, we feel it's worthy for our future. But... no matter how we try hard here... our future is very doubtful and unfruitful... unless something should be changed.

If I'm not mistaken, USB pendrive is Malaysian Chinese invention... Here, he received lack of appreciation and recognition... But, Taiwan recognizes and appreciates him. He had no choice, but to migrate to Taiwan where he got a lot better salary and position. Now, I think people would say USB pendrive is the invention from Taiwanese! How do we feel now when we see my post...
