View Full Version : "Paying Up for Not Belting up" says the Sun

To me all this over-exuberance of the Road Transport Department and the police to enforce the law on vehicle rear seat belt is just like all the other laws in the past..hangat-hangat tahi ayam ... just at the inception stage. Why can't the police be more concerned about escalating crime incidences .. and the RTD on errant bus drivers. Why target the poor citizens who need their cars to get from A to B? To me belting up at the back does not guarantee that you won't get seriously injured in an accident. Front seat drivers and passengers who belted up have been killed in accidents also. Our modern cars are built to cave in to reduce the force of collisions and the effect on occupants. At the speed most drivers follow and the modern car being being so built there is virtually no hope for the driver and all passengers in a head-on collision. A better thing to do will be to enforce a proper speed limit. Years ago when I worked in Johor Bahru, I travelled to Penang at speeds not exceeding 90 kmh (the roads then were not like our tolled highways). Gratefully I am still around today and never met with a bad accident.

New jalan yg boleh dapat duit kopi easily?
Economy bad, & some more, gaji only RM1500 for officer.
You no read meh...even Lim Kit Siang complaint about the Police force's lousy gaji structure?
Ya Police are more concerned about escalating crime incidences...but alas they also cari makan and need to follow what their paymaster tells them, like taking care of anti-ISA vigil, Jaga JERIT cyclists & whatever their ruling political master deems fit.
On the safety belt, I don't know what the big fuss about it.
When I was in oversea every one just belt up without fuss - front and back passengers.
Yes you are right about speed limits, but right where I stand it is very confusing on certain stretch.
Its starts with 70, few kilometers later 90 continues for a 3 kilometers then suddenly, drops to 60.
And this is a 4 lane highway!
It does takes a rocket scientist to know here is a Gold Mine for speed trap!
Thanks goodness the Aussie are more sensible on their speed indicators.

That's how the cops get to make extra cash.."Mahu selesai?". The noctorius stretch is the approach to the Penang Bridge from Butterworth. As you take the bend to the toll booths, the speed limit crawls to a 60 kmh stretch and the cops are waiting for you on a busy day. I always remember to slow down as I reach the toll booths and sure enough a cop will be waiting. With their pay structure this is their way to make quick tax free money.

I thought this one was dismantled after the previous CM Koh Tsu Khoon hentam them for hiding in the bushes. It was so funny, me driving at 60kmph pass these jokers in the bush with camera and waving at them everytime... now I don't see them anymore?
