Is this to pre-empt the coming court case over PR's complaints about bribery by BN during the KT By-election?

KUCHING: The Federal Court has reaffirmed the election of Barisan Nasional’s Ding Kuong Hiing as the Sarikei MP after it threw out an appeal by DAP’s Wong Hua Seh against the Election Court’s decision.

Election Judge Datuk Ian Chin dismissed Wong’s election petition on July 21 last year as he found no evidence of bribery in Ding’s election.

Wong filed the petition on grounds of corrupt practices.

The Federal Court, in its judgement Friday, said Wong’s appeal was without merits and dismissed it with costs.

The judgement was read by Federal Court’s deputy registrar Noor Hayati Mat.

What do you mean 'pre-emp'?

Sorry, spelling error - pre-empt = forestall.

UMNO cannot afford to have a court ruling to state that development funds offered during elections constitute bribery. Even though it is bribery!

Without this power to bribe the voters, they could lose up to half their seats in a General Election.
