10 Feb 09: An LRT line is proposed extending from Kelana Jaya through KTM Subang Jaya Station, Subang Jaya and end in Putra Heights.
1. Soil investigation has started. A drilling rig was seen along Jalan Jengka this afternoon.
2. Cost of project unknown. 12 stations, 17.1 km long. Project to start end of 2009. Completion 2012.
3. Public comments will be invited after the necessary studies is completed ad approval from authorities. A 3-month period is provided.
I envisage that this timeline is not practical. Also this is putting the cart before the horse. Normally, a project should have public hearings to determine whether the public agrees to it before the govt commits money to do soil investigation and detailed design. This is not consultation. This is handing the residents a fiat accompli - take it or leave it but it will be done.
This is the typical BN arrogance where they decide what they want to do and ram it down our throats. BN was rejected in Subang Jaya during the Mar 08 elections because of this and yet they still won't learn.
Aerial view of Subang Jaya. SS 16 is on the left, SS 17 at the lower middle, with SS 15 further back.
On the extreme right can be seen the New Pantai Expressway.

Although Subang Jaya residents will benefit, we should consider the cost-benefits of this scheme compared to other transport systems. In this tight economic climate, we should stretch our ringgit to the maximum. The LRT at Kelana Jaya station has exceeded 100% capacity. How can they handle additional traffic from Subang Jaya and Putra Heights?
I am sure Moaz will have a few words to say on this as well.
4. Trains, when operational, will be able to handle 45,926 passengers per hour (I like the preciseness of this figure)
Proposed Kelana Jaya to Putra Heights LRT Line.
