DPM talking like a spoilt brat. And he's only a heart-beat from becoming PM. Makes me shudder.

Muhyiddin calls Bar Council fines parking tickets

    By Syed Jaymal Zahiid

PERMATANG PASIR, Aug 19 — Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin hit out at the Bar Council today for having an agenda against Barisan Nasional’s (BN) candidate for the by-election here, after it was revealed the Umno man was a disbarred lawyer.

The Bar Council had issued a statement following queries from the media yesterday confirming that Rohaizat Othman, the candidate, was a disbarred lawyer.

Rohaizat had been disbarred last year after he was found guilty by the Bar Council’s disciplinary committee of misconduct by failing to return RM161,000 belonging to his client, the Penang Rubber Smallholders’ Cooperative.

The Bar Council also clarified that Rohaizat had been found guilty of personal misconduct and had lost his appeal against the decision in the High Court last Wednesday, five days before Umno nominated him for the by-election. TheMalaysiaInsider....

Re: Permatang Pasir: Umno Youth: Up to 3,000 phantom voters

Is UMNO trying to get the by-elections cancelled and fresh elections called later with a new set of candidates. That would solve the problem of Rohaizat.

Umno Youth: Up to 3,000 phantom voters

    Aug 19, 09 11:02pm
Penang Umno Youth today handed over proof of phantom voters in the Permatang Pasir state constituency to the Election Commission (EC).

Its chief, Norman Zahalan, accompanied by 30 members handed over an official letter as well as a list of such voters to assistant EC management officer, Masirah Che Ani, at the Seberang Perai Tengah district and land office here. Malaysiakini. Subscription required.

Re: Permatang Pasir: Muhyiddin asks Rohaizat to issue sworn statement

This sounds like the talk of a panicking man.

Muhyiddin asks Rohaizat to issue sworn statement

BUKIT MERTAJAM, Aug 20 — Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin wants the Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate in the by-election for the Permatang Pasir state seat, Rohaizat Othman, to make a sworn statement, if necessary, to clarify his actual position on the issue of the revocation of his civil law licence.

The Deputy Prime Minister said this was to ensure that no one would take the opportunity to manipulate the actual situation on the issue.

"Whatever it is, the important thing is for us to give the correct statement. I have informed Rohaizat that if necessary, he should give a sworn statement to explain the real situation so that no one can manipulate the actual situation," he said at a press conference yesterday.

He said he was convinced that Rohaizat was not guilty and no legal action was taken against him in court. TheMalaysiaInsider....

Re: Permatang Pasir: Race and religion dominate BN’s campaign

    UMNO = R & R (Racism & Religious extremism).

In their desperation to win, they are willing to do anything, even if it means burning the house down.

There is no social contract, only the Constitution. The Social Contract is just some fanciful term cooked up by UMNO to justify their racial discrimination.

The status of Islam is not in question, only the questioning of UMNO's religious goons encroachment into the lives of non-Muslims.

The special position of the Malays is not in question, only UMNO's discrimination against the non-Malays.

The bottom line is that all our problems can be traced to UMNO. And the obvious solution is ......

    UMNO Must Go!

Race and religion dominate BN’s campaign

    By Syed Jaymal Zahiid

PERMATANG PASIR, Aug 20 — Race and religion seem to be the cornerstone of Umno’s by-election campaign here, beginning with the labelling of its rivals as enemies of the Malays.

Deputy Prime Minister and Umno No. 2 Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yasin, in a ceramah held here last night, blasted Pakatan Rakyat (PR) leaders as arrogant, claiming that some have dared to question the rights of the Malays and Islam.

"They have questioned the social contract, the status of Islam and the Malays in this country which are enshrined in the Federal Constitution," he said before some 500 party supporters.

"Don't get me wrong, I am a deputy prime minister for all Malaysians. The rights of the non-Malays should be upheld but do not question the rights of the Malays," he added. TheMalaysiaInsider....

Re: Permatang Pasir: The final nail in Rohaizat’s political coffin

We are here, not because we are law-breakers; we are here in our efforts to become law-makers – Emmeline Pankhurst

The final nail in Rohaizat’s political coffin
    August 20, 2009

Yusri Ishak, Rohaizat’s former partner in legal practice, and who Rohaizat completely blames for the breach of trust that got him disbarred, held a ‘tell all’ press conference this morning in Penanti.

    Malaysianinsider has the report HERE.

Unfortunately, the Malaysianinsider report does not have as much detail as that in Malaysiakini.

Ordinarily, I would not do this, as I think you people ought to subscribe to Malaysiakini to keep them going, but I’m going to make an exception today for the benefit of those who still have not subscribed and do a cut and paste of Yusri’s full bersion from Malaysiakini of what really happened.

From Yusri, as reported in Malaysiakini :

It’s a blatant lie to say that he never knew anything about the cooperative land and money transactions. Apart from me, he was also the legitimate signatory of the company accounts. To suggest that he was implicated by my wrongdoing is a lie…He was also responsible for the misappropriation of the cooperative funds. It is unethical in the legal profession .. . Rohaizat was guilty of it”. Malaysiatoday....

Re: Permatang Pasir: All ballot boxes to be shifted to 1 counting centre

Aha! So this is where the tricks are coming up - switching ballot boxes.

    Campaign is very quiet.

Roads to be closed for by-election

Penang Traffic Chief DSP Wari Kiew said the move was to enable ballot boxes from various polling stations to reach the centre without any delay after polling for the Permatang Pasir state seat by-election, tomorrow. Malaysiakini....

Re: Permatang Pasir: Permatang Pasir & Old Tactics

UMNO is probably going to try for this tactic:
    1. Dump all the Peninsular Malaysian parties.
    2. Become a purely racist party in Peninsular Malaysia.
    3. Come to an agreement with Sabah and Sarawak to aim for 50 seats from them.

If UMNO can secure more that 62 seats in P. Malaysia, they can have a majority to form the next government. Try to increase it later by using the UMNO War Machine to target the vulnerable PR MPs.

    Permatang Pasir & Old Tactics

The ongoing campaign for the Permatang Pasir by-election shows that political parties, especially UMNO, are still embracing and breathing their old habits - inciting communal hatred and manipulating religion.

UMNO, as a leader of BN, was expected to change their way and adopt a truly Malaysian political model to help revive the waning support of its coalition partners. But its political campaign, including the onslaught of its mouthpieces (Utusan Malaysia, Berita Harian, paid cybertroopers and a Chinese Muslim convert), implies that the party has given up on its partners to help revive the coalition.

BN as a multiracial and truly Malaysian coalition is dead. Khoo Kay Peng.

Re: Permatang Pasir: The last ceramah

PKR organized the last ceramah for PAS at Samagagah. More than 4000 attended.

It has come down to a fight between:

    a. Ethics and issues on PR's side, vs
    b. Money politics on UMNO's side. UMNO has put all their efforts in distributing goodies like bicycles, sewing machines to the Malay community and cakes and hampers to the Chinese community.

The message from Pakatan Rakyat is simply: Take whatever is offered but remember to vote for PAS.

Re: Permatang Pasir: UMNO Lawyer Rohaizat Othman vs PAS Ustaz Mohd Salleh Man

PR should used her limited resources wisely. It is pointless winning the battle and loosing the War.It is foolish to be entrenched and let umno take the initiative. We can learn some lesson from the vietnamese that brought mighty US to her knee.Revisit Saigon and remember all is fair in love and war.
