S’gor to tackle land fraud with integrated database

May 16, 2011SHAH ALAM, May 16 — The Selangor government is currently in the midst of setting up an integrated database in order to curb land fraud in the state, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim (picture) announced today.

The Selangor mentri besar said the database is designed to keep landowners abreast of the status of their land, its exact location and other relevant information.

He said he hopes that once implemented, the database will make it easier for landowners to carry out transactions at land offices in their respective districts.

The database will also serve as a source of information on the status of the government’s Temporary Occupation of Land (TOL).

Khalid went on to say that ongoing efforts are being made to transfer information from 1.5 million physical files to the integrated database, and that it is expected to be ready by October.
