Fear stops Tamil schools from accepting funds

It is sad when the education of our children is held hostage to the politics of hatred and fear. UMNO should put aside their pettiness and co-operate with PR to develop our children. If they can't do that, at least step aside and let PR help the Tamil schools - Not this nonsense of verbally threatening the headmasters.

Christmas came early for Tamil schools in Selangor, but there were fewer takers than anticipated for the RM4 million that the Selangor government was prepared to fork out.

Perennially short of resources, 97 Tamil schools in the state were to have benefitted from the allocation made under the state government’s 'communitarian economy' programme. (http://malaysiakini.com/news/84834)

Charles Santiago applauds aid to Tamil schools....

Charles Santiago applauds aid to Tamil schools....and links it to HINDRAF.

I am not sure whether it is such a bright idea to link this aid to HINDRAF. Charles may earn some brownie points with HINDRAF but antagonize the Federal Govt, who views HINDRAF as an enemy. Let's keep politics out of education. The burden on the kids is heavy enough as it is without being used as a political footbal.

Selangor State Government's Aid to Tamil Schools is a Victory for the People.

I applaud the decision by the Selangor state government, headed by Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, to disburse RM 4 million ringgit in aid of Tamil schools and RM 6 million to Chinese schools. This is a historic decision and in line with the electoral pledge by Pakatan Rakyat to provide financial assistance irrespective of race and religion.
