Hadi blasts EC for failure to address postal votes fraud

PAS president Tuan Guru Abdul Hadi Awang has reiterated that the postal voting system remained the biggest electoral fraud at the coming general election.

According to Hadi, among the areas prone to the fraud are Felda areas, new residential areas and squatter settlements besides the already known armed forces and police officers who are incorporated as postal voters.

“The failure of the Election Commission to clean up postal voters list will create the biggest space for fraud.

Improper implementation of the postal voting system will see extraordinary rise (in number of voters) causing us unable to prevent them from voting twice in the general election,” explained the Marang member of parliament.

Hadi stressed that this was one reason why PAS had thrown its weight behind the popular electoral reforms coalition Bersih 2.0 in pressing for clean and fair elections before the next polls.

“Indeed, this will be a democratic measure of this country,” he added.

He also blasted the parliamentary select committee for electoral reforms over its failure to ensure the EC will implement the eight demands for electoral reforms.

“The space for fraud to take place has been created by the EC when it fails to implement the PSC’s proposal especially on postal voting,” said Hadi.
