The Election Commission (EC) is exhibiting an additional electoral roll bill (DPT Bill) for the quarter year 4/2012 at 949 locations nationwide for 14 days, starting yesterday.

EC public relations officer Sabri Said, in a statement yesterday, said the DPT Bill involved the business of applying to register as a voter in October, November and December last year.

"The EC had received 295,122 applications to register as voters comprising 243,751 new voters and 51,371 applications to change voting centre addresses.

"Applicants are advised to check the DPT Bill. For new applicants, whose names are not listed, they can fill up Form B and submit it to the Registrar (state general election director) for the registration area in question."

He said registered voters who wanted to protest against the entry of the name of any person in the DPT Bill, could do so by filling up Form C.

A protester can protest against not more than 20 people in line with sub-regulation 15(3) General Election Regulations (Voter Registration) (Amendment) 2012 and submit it to the Registrar (state general election director) for the registration area in question.

"During the exhibition, EC will also exhibit the names of voters who will be taken out of the electoral roll.

"Among the reasons why EC takes out the names, include death of the voters, those stripped of their citizenship, and those having retired from the armed forces or the police," Sabri said.

The DPT Bill would be exhibited, among others, at the state general election offices, computerised post offices, government offices/complexes, District Offices/Land Offices and district council and municipal council offices.

For any query on the DPT Bill, the public can contact the EC headquarters at 03-88856565 or fax to 03-88889117 or any state general election office.
